Even on My Brightest Days

Evening comes earlier than it used to
as the darkness creeps in
like the shadows are weeping
and their tears seep in.

Even on my brightest days,
hope closes like a curtain.
My heart wavers and I'm not so certain
that all this waiting will be worth it.

I still turn to you out of habit,
thinking that if happiness was closer,
I could have it.
